Out of the Ashes

Out of the ashes

A phoenix will rise

The rubble that lies before us

Is a blessing in disguise

We had been too proud

To see our looming fate

Now we know the truth

When it’s too late

We are the masters of our destiny

But Nature is the mother of all

It is by her will we stand

And by her hand, we fall

There’s hope while we’re breathing

We can build our lives again

And while we’re believing

Then our lives are not in vain!

Learning to Fly – A poem

I have all this life I can’t contain

Every thought and feeling fall like rain

It overflows, slipping through my fingers

As they land, the sensation lingers

I can’t hold them; even though they’re my own

I’m surrounded, but I feel so alone

The sands of time erase all in the end

But my will to live will never bend!

There’s only so much I will see and do

But I won’t stick to the tried and true

I’ve never been one to follow the herd

So, I’ll grow some wings and fly like a bird!

When I learn to fly, I’ll see so much more

I’ll fly over every mountain and every shore

I may not be able to hold onto everything

So I must let go and spread my wings!

Aries – A Poem

You blaze a trail across the stars

You have the fighting spirit of Mars

You’re passionate and have a zest for life

You see light where others see strife

Oh Aries! What a delight you are!

You are a fearless superstar!

You’re loyal and honest as the day is long

You protect the weak and challenge the strong

First across the line, the herald of spring

The trees blossom and the birds sing

You charge headfirst into the year

As we watch you run without fear!

My Imaginary Escapade

Photo by Abby Kihano from Pexels

One thousand ideas circle around my head

Dazzling like a swarm of fireflies

They weave through the air, fast and slow

They dim and they glow

Like stars that twinkle in the inky sky above

As above, so below

Heaven and Earth aren’t so different now

Inspiration is all around

I need not catch the fireflies

Let them dance their lazy dance

While I admire them, before sinking back

Into a place of comfort

Curled up among my cushions

Drinking my steaming green tea

From my favourite china mug
