Out of the Ashes

Photo by Jure Širić from Pexels

Out of the ashes

A phoenix will rise

The rubble that lies before us

Is a blessing in disguise

We had been too proud

To see our looming fate

Now we know the truth

When it’s too late

We are the masters of our destiny

But Nature is the mother of all

It is by her will we stand

And by her hand, we fall

There’s hope while we’re breathing

We can build our lives again

And while we’re believing

Then our lives are not in vain!

The Tower of Babel – A poem

We’re terrified of being broken

We’re frightened of the truths unspoken

Our fears underneath it all

We are destined to fall

Look at that tower, standing tall

We forget that pride comes before a fall

And in our pride, we are blind to it all

When we finally see the end, we stall

Maybe it won’t happen, perhaps the end isn’t nigh

As the tower crumbles from on high

A lightning bolt strikes the steeple

And debris falls among the people

Where Two Winds Blow

The west wind beckons me

To a place, I’ve never been before

The east wind’s siren song

Lures me to some distant shore

I stand at the crossroads of destiny

Unsure of which path to take

Both ways represent a mystery

But it’s a choice that I must make

Whichever way I go, I can’t go back

Forever lost to the mists of time

I bow my head and pray to God

Before I cross the line!

Castle of the Mind

I’ve built a fort in my mind

Where I’m the queen of my fate

I’ve left all my worries behind

My mind and body integrate

Never before have I felt this power

That I wield with my own two hands

I feel the same strength in the smallest flower

Forged in a will that not many understand

Power is more than the physical

And the intention is more than the mind

The soul lies between the two, so mystical

This inner strength in me is all three combined

Pisces – A poem

Two fish swim in a fast-flowing stream

Pisces, you yearn to escape into dreams

You’re intuitive, creative and a sensitive soul

You’re not interested in power or control

You’re ruled by Neptune, God of the sea

The deep blue-green planet fits you perfectly

From the turquoise shores of far-flung places

To the still pools of a desert oasis

A true romantic, you see the beauty in the smallest things

In a spring breeze, a pastel sunset or butterfly wings

Just don’t get too lost in your idea of fantasy

For there is beauty in our reality

Aquarius – A Poem

Aquarius, you like to go your own way

You’re not that interested in what people say

You want to find out things on your own

You look to the future and the great unknown

Ruled by Uranus, God of the Sky

You like to see the world from on high

Sometimes you must land on solid ground

So your loved ones know you’re safe and sound

Aquarius, you’re quirky, fun and a caring soul

Always looking towards your next goal

You want to make an impact on humanity

Your life is anything but mundanity!

Capricorn – A poem

Capricorn, you like to climb

You’re patient but you don’t waste time

You know what you want, and how to get it

You’re ambitious and you have grit

You’re ruled by Saturn, the Lord of Time

A strict teacher, keeping his children in line

Sometimes Capricorns are all work and no play

But it’s okay to have fun on your off day

Underneath the seriousness is a caring soul

It’s important to let go of some control

Deep down you’re witty, loyal and street-smart

A principled person with a kind heart

Sagittarius – A Poem

Sagittarius, the wandering archer

Always waiting on the next departure

A restless soul with a curious mind

Happiness is to live unconfined

Ever on the hunt, you like to explore

Expansive Jupiter leaves you yearning for more

King of the Gods, lightning and thunder

Beware of excess that may tear you asunder

Don’t worry Sagittarius; you have little to fear

You make friends quickly, and you hold them dear

Your inner fire radiates optimism

You don’t have much time for cynicism

Learning to Fly – A poem

I have all this life I can’t contain

Every thought and feeling fall like rain

It overflows, slipping through my fingers

As they land, the sensation lingers

I can’t hold them; even though they’re my own

I’m surrounded, but I feel so alone

The sands of time erase all in the end

But my will to live will never bend!

There’s only so much I will see and do

But I won’t stick to the tried and true

I’ve never been one to follow the herd

So, I’ll grow some wings and fly like a bird!

When I learn to fly, I’ll see so much more

I’ll fly over every mountain and every shore

I may not be able to hold onto everything

So I must let go and spread my wings!

Libra – A Poem

A cautious soul who weighs the pros and cons

Libra, you have a keen sense of right and wrong

Lover of diplomacy, grace and all things harmonic

You have little time for the crass and sardonic

Ruled by Venus, the Goddess of Love

You treat romance as a gift from above

It’s easy to be swept up in love’s embrace

But don’t let your own dreams go to waste

Charming and sociable, you make people smile

You find great friends to be worth your while

As the Scales slide, the leaves start falling

Bursts of colour send your soul soaring!
